Benjamin Soap Co. began in the fall of 2014 with $500, a pair of thrifted mixing bowls, and a growing fascination with ingredients. At the time, I was simply a mom searching for safe, natural products to use on my young children.
What started as small batches of soap in my kitchen soon became a booth at the Georgetown Farmers’ Market, where I quickly discovered I wasn’t alone in wanting simple, honest goods made by hand. As the demand grew, so did our offerings, expanding beyond soap to include soy candles, natural deodorant, solid lotion bars, and lip balm.
A few months later, I signed up for my first show in Dallas. I loaded my SUV with a pop-up tent, folding tables, and weeks of carefully prepared stock, unsure if anyone would buy a thing. Within three hours, 75% of it was gone. I can still remember calling my husband, ecstatic but nervous, as my tables grew emptier, until only a few testers and candles remained.
That day changed everything. It remains our most successful in-person event, and it gave me the confidence to invest in better tools, including a wax melter and a proper setup. I was thrilled, overwhelmed, and certain I was onto something worth pursuing.
With those resources, production expanded, and wholesale partnerships followed. Before long, our need for space also grew. Growth came in stages, first moving from the laundry room to the guest room, then into our first small studio, and finally into the light-filled space in Hutto, just outside Austin, where we continue to create today. Each move carried both necessity and possibility, marking a new chapter in the journey.
Though the business has grown, the heart remains the same. Every product is still formulated in-house, made in small batches, and guided by sustainability from the botanicals and oils we select to the packaging we design. Our commitment has never changed: to craft the highest-quality skincare and home goods with integrity and care.

Benjamin Soap Co. is a woman-owned, small-batch studio creating skincare, soaps, candles, and home goods with sustainability at the core of every step. Founded in 2014 by Jae Benjamin, what began with a few recipes at the kitchen counter has evolved into a studio powered entirely by renewable energy, just outside Austin, Texas, and recognized for producing high-quality, natural products.
We are dedicated to small-batch craftsmanship, using carefully selected botanicals, clays, and essential oils for their purity and purpose. Every recipe is developed in-house and crafted by hand with no synthetic fragrances or harsh additives. We use only plant-based formulas that are gentle on the skin and the environment.
